Re: Feck this, I've had enough.

As I've got older (63 soon), I found myself listening to the main system less (sometimes not at all for a week), but my Mac/Dali Katch bluetooth speaker more - up to 8 hours a day. I enjoy discovering new music but I'm buying less of it. I want to improve my vinyl playback but wonder why because I s...

Re: TT Recommendation

For something a bit left of centre, this is a good one:

Based on the Aurora Gold but in a standard plinth. It could certainly benefit from a better arm but this one would get you up and running.

Re: You don't like pretty boxes, Paul?

Strangely enough, that's acceptable bling (to me). I've always loved this look, but I assume it was targeted towards Far East tastes. The mono power amps looked awesome too.

Re: You don't like pretty boxes, Paul?

I've always loved my Exposure mono power amps, and visually, they are as brutalist as a set of amps can be: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/49816207403_1f5e321acc_k.jpg 10BA53EC-7AC7-4756-B621-E96F0B22FA63_1_201_a I do like the feature of the front plate with a slight radius to the edges being s...

Re: Townshend seismic isolation products

You can suggest that the Townshend Sinks are 'rubbish', and you'd be entirely wrong :) I've used their speaker isolation platforms on 3 different speakers - neat MFS stand mounted, neat MF7 floor standing, and Jamo R909 dipoles. Each one started life with a spiked arrangement onto a suspended solid ...

Re: Genesis release

I've heard the new version of "Seconds Out" and I'm not convinced. It's cut from digital files from the more recent Nick Davis remix. Yes, it sounds 'clearer', but there's something not quite right about the sound. certainly it lacks the sheer guts and majesty on side four of my original c...

Re: Genesis release

I've done a couple of the Hackett 'tribute band' gigs, and even though the songs are a good facsimile of the old tunes, they definitely lack the 'swing' of the originals. I also don't like the way that he extends the ending of 'Suppers ready' far beyond the original fade out (by five mins!), and whe...
