Re: Phono 1 MC
Daniel, my equipment is in a shelving unit against the wall so will have to be visible. I have my Phono next to my turntable but have added an extra shelf for the power supply unit. It will be quite far away from the turntable so I hope will not affect the cartridge. One of my A80 Mk 2 mono units do...

Re: Phono 1 MC
It's going into an acrylic box and it will be visible in my music unit. The box isn't shiny but will not look too out of place, I hope, beside my NVA amps. I will get some Evostik today.

Re: Phono 1 MC
I have the parts to build a new power supply for my Phono 1 ie a 500VA Noratel transformer,Luxon 10,000 uF capacitors,a KBPC 3504 rectifier and an ABS box. Next step is to stick it all together, the transformer is very heavy so I am not sure of the best glue to hold it. I have UHU glue which the Doc...

Re: Phono 1 MC
My system sounds the same as usual. I am just interested in what's going on. I think from what Stevetheshadow says everything is ok as I did measure under no load conditions. I will get going on the upgrade when I get back from "down South".

Re: Phono 1 MC
Sounds high to me also but I am not that good with electronics. The transformer is from Daniel's P1 and I have connected it up to the turntable and it sounds fine. i measured the mains going to the transformer and it read 236, which I thought was ok as I may not have made good contact as I was being...

Re: Phono 1 MC
Daniel, I put the transformer in and it gave , by my meter, 60V ac to the rectifier and the output to the regulator is 79V dc. I will connect up to the turntable and let you know how it goes. I probably won't manage to start on the upgrade for a while as I am going down to Bristol to get re-acquaint...

Re: Phono 1 MC
Karatestu I have been checking up on transformers and you could be right as a few of the transformers I have looked at have a thermal fuse in their primary windings marked as TCO in the circuit diagrams. I suppose it may protect against fire but I can see no way of repairing it.

Re: Phono 1 MC
I received the transformer today. Thanks again, I am impressed by how cleanly you removed it. I made a complete mess of it. i won't be able to do anything this weekend as I am having my two sisters, one of my brothers and their partners visiting. I haven't seen them for over a year so should be fun.
