Re: Phono 1

The ohm loading is high I believe but it doesn't matter. Using a cartridge with 100 ohm + recommended and sounds great. (Phono 2). So any MC should work fine.

Re: The Audio Standard Forum.

They are certainly getting a bit touchy about the fuse thing. Mains improvements I have found to be marginal (unless you have a real problem). Money better spent elsewhere unless you have bottomless pockets IMO. The defense is 'you haven't heard them' but since they are illegal why would I buy one?

Re: RACKS

I have had plenty hum issues with putting any big power supply near phono stages or the like that are sensitive to electrical fields irrespective if they have metal or perspex casing. Main issue with racks is access to cabling and risk of damage lifting heavy components in or out. Usually can keep p...

Re: A20x

It strikes me how elegantly simple NVA internals appear. Wonder how mainstream manufacturers end up with such a complex mass of components just to amplify a signal. It appears too they keep adding bits to 'improve' their product.

Hi-Fi For Sale (website)

This has been around for some years and I'm sure was originally owned by Keith that now runs Isotek. Last time I looked it was private sales but now appears an outlet for dealers offloading ex dem and used kit. Not many real bargains. Anyone have experience of using this sales site? Elite audio pop ...

Re: Cubix Pro For Sale

Sorry to hear this decision has been forced on you. Unfortunately £10K + is a bit rich for me. I think you may end up having to try a certain auction site to move these.

Re: Linn - the next rip off

No reason why they could not retain the fluting with the superior plinth construction. Simple routing operation (just cosmetics). I think this might be inspired by a third party in the US that is doing them (no doubt for less money).

Re: The New Wigwam

The show will likely still get a lot of visitors but maybe not enough to turn a substantial profit. It can be more interesting than the conventional shows with exclusively trade demonstrations. It's actually easier to get to than Scalford even though a bit further north. I think cost of exhibiting (...
