Re: Mains RF

I've been using these for twenty five years (few forum members took any notice whenever I mentioned them) and I found them effective - and they're easily removed too... The first one on a mains cable makes the biggest difference I found, the subsequent effectiveness reducing with each additional one...

Re: A20x

In my time, the LP12 didn't change construction with the batch apart from some plinths being (sonically-degradingly) shitty and the mid 80's batch of terminally bad main bearing thrust pads, many of which would be replaced by Cirkus bearings now and the black oil. I found the main changes to be sign...

Re: BMU Loan

Sorry to butt in, but mine doesn't cut high frequencies down at all. If the recording is toppy (and with my ears currently recovered), you know it in no uncertain terms. It's just that added mains 'hash' is significantly reduced if not eliminated and the result through the speakers or headphones is ...

Re: A20x

Linn likes the term "revision" usually displayed on the underside. They also like SE of late. There was a period on the 90's when both Linn and Meridian changed the innards of their products several times in a very few years with no way of knowing on the outside... The component alterations in issu...

Re: Loosing touch with reality

Sorry to shit-bomb this forum this afternoon... HiFi is a hobby, music-loving is a basic necessity of life to so many. The thing as I see it with hobbies, is that it takes over the little boy in the male enthusiast (not usually girl in the ladies as they have more common sense usually imo) and turns...

Re: New DAC

When you can make a half decent regulated linear supply, or buy a Chinese one as the Doc is using, both for around forty quid, it kind of makes a £200 plus equivalent, albeit of UK design, hellishly expensive though... I haven't done this on mine, but you could always add an S-Booster to further smo...

Re: Rega Wall Shelf

The Regas from the first Planar 2 with R200 and wood trim to current Planar 3 have the feet in much the same place - keep the feet slightly loose on the base and not tightened up! Paul D infers that the Planet itself changed a few times in production. I knew the brand intimately from 1982 onwards (a...

Re: Rega Wall Shelf

This is the reply I've just received... "It depends on the vintage as that turntable evolved over 7 years and different incarnations have different topologies. He would be best off taking it in to a Rega dealer and trying it out (checking that have they have a wall shelf first obviously !!)" Sorry i...

Re: RACKS

Just in case anyone wishes to use the OP as further ammunition. Lest anyone thinks it's an NVA-ONLY thing, I remember in the days before CD, Naim amps using preamp power supplies (HiCap especially) suffered if the supply was too close to the preamp. I remember recently that one person was in denial ...
