Re: Best cover version - ever!

I don't agree. The Heart Led Zeppelin cover..... Bloated, overblown and dull. Heart were second-rate back in their day. I'm very much a Led Zeppelin fan of 45 years. This is not my favourite track. However I appreciate it's a popular song. What's with the brass ensemble and massed vocals? Robert see...

Re: TIS Interconnects

I had, until recently, a TIS throughput from CD to power amp via passive pre. Certainly everything was crystal clear, and then some. Moving back (briefly to test) to SP easily illustrated what the TIS was doing. Instruments leapt out of the speakers and vocals filled the room. Most notable was the d...

Re: Ebay madness

I agree. An Edinburgh hi-fi dealer tried to sell me a pair of these some ten (or so) years ago at a knock-down price. Looked pretty and clearly (?) well made. However, once I looked (and listened) properly, soon dismissed and went for a pair of Shahinian Arcs instead which did everything fine.

Re: What was the first record you bought

Nothing wrong with either... Just moved-on from Glam-Rock to Real-Rock. Always liked Hot Love and Jeepster though.... Now recall that the first single bought for me by my lovely mum was 'Cast your fate to the wind' by Sounds Orchestral. The B-side was 'To Wendy with love'. I was about 11 at the time...

Re: Why is music so important for us.

Music is everything for me. I listen to Radio 4 in the morning until 9.00, then switch to Radio 6 music for the rest of the day. At home I have no TV license, so music from 6.00pm to 9.00pm via Radio 3 and 6. Otherwise my ever-expanding CD collection from 20th century classical to Pavo Pavo, and eve...

Ride a White Swan by T Rex. Went on to buy most of T Rex singles, then swapped the lot for Led Zeppelin 2. Never looked back.

Re: The PC boot up and getting to "work" speed test

If you want your PC to boot and load a browser faster..... then load more RAM and go to a SSD if you can afford it. I run a HP Envy with a 256Gb SSD and 16Gb RAM. Boots and loads Chrome in 12 seconds. OS is Windows 10.

Re: Obits

I've been a fan of Mark Hollis and Talk Talk for years. Spirit of Eden is in my top 10..... Now I hear Andrew Preview has passed. His Telarc Rachmaninov 2nd symphony is sublime. I have three copies.... main, kitchen and car.

I hate being old. Too many people leaving.
