Thanks Ant!
That's a great idea, and even easier than adding more fluid... I can easily just turn the paddle up out of the trough and try again. Will do that tonight and let you know.

Inline hipass filter and cone-flap (or my Royds are flapping...)
Hi, Since moving from sealed speakers to some (amazing) ported Royd Sorcerers I have noticed some occasional cone flap. I think my cart compliance (high compliance Denon DL-301mk2) / tonearm (low mass SME 3009 series 2 improved fixed headshell with fluid damper) match is ok, at least the numbers sug...

Re: Degumming Royd mid/bass drivers
Hey Jamie, My brother took it to Audio Gold in North London, which worked out a bit more convenient than your guy would have been (my brother lives a couple of miles away). Not heard back yet... when i took a look, the behaviour seemed to be: 33rpm - it was just about stable but slightly slow, if yo...

Re: Degumming Royd mid/bass drivers
Well...blow me down. The technique illustrated on the Royd (fan) site (see link above) has worked absolutely perfectly! The speaker I doctored now sounds identical to the other, and seemingly no fattiness at higher volumes either. Hopefully the very sparing application of nail polish remover to the ...

Degumming Royd mid/bass drivers
I picked up a pair of Royd Sorcerers on Ebay the other day which had been described as having 'off-centre' drivers and so not working 100%... I was tempted to take a punt because in case turning them 180 degrees worked... Especially, as I'd noticed that some Sorcerers were even badged for use with t...

Re: Medium mass tonearm recommendations for Pioneer PLC-1700
Cool - money should be with you now.
Wow the paint sounds tempting, although my previous experiences with spray cans have been somewhat disappointing!
I'd be a bit scared of ruining it!
