Re: How to get more visitors to HFS

Actually a very good idea Alfi. Allow links here to member's web sites on condition that they host a link back to here. Might need to put some rule/s in place about ethos etc.

Re: AVI Lab Series Modifications (less is more)

There are LDRs that do not contain Cadmium Sulphide but I know nothing about them. However one such is Lead Sulphide, which is not exactly healthy either. CdS sensors were used in light meters until silicon photo-diodes took over. Looking for more information I found the following: "Most of the cadm...

Well if you don't want MK ones posted to you buy them as at that cost they're a bargain.

Re: Boring ?

It isn't just you, banning dissent very soon becomes banning difference and we can all have different opinions, the whole point of calling a form "Subjectivist" is that we are allowed to be different.

Re: The Audio Standard Forum.

Ok, so all that means is that unlike a simple way of regenerating mains (convert mains into DC, generate pure sine wave, use high power amplifier to amplify pure sine wave to 230v), they use a more efficient method, create sine wave locked to incoming mains, convert mains into lower DC voltage, use...

Re: The Audio Standard Forum.

I find Martin's explanation very interesting, I am not sure about some of the technicalities but never mind. I would however like to know what the RF noise created by "Ethernet by mains" adaptors does to the device. The noise is in the HF region and of particular annoyance to radio amateurs.

Re: The Audio Standard Forum.

We aren't talking about your BMU, I know nothing about that. The generator is firstly a transformer, the secondary is where the regeneration circuits are, but that first transformer removes all trace of DC, and after all, it is regenerated into a pure sinewave. Have a look at PS Audio's web site ? ...

My 1982 Teac Tape deck is double insulated so it is hardly new. Come to think of it I have three cassette decks that are also double insulated and one of them is even older.
