Re: back to direct drive again!

Ta, its perfect for the at carts I like, the at150 sa and the 440mlb. At the moment i have the 150 in a mayware formula 4 on my lenco conversion ( the demonstrator model I built), my goldring eroica on the robot armed jvc ql-y5f I restored that the wife won't let me sell as its automatic, and nothin...

Re: Pioneer PL-71 refurbishment (Stu Version)

Reply to number 3, try some quixx acrylic polish on it, about a tenner from Amazon. Ive used it on lids before and its worked on them.
Depends on the type of plastic as to how effective it is, best to try somewhere it wont be seen first. Back of the hinges is a good spot to try it on

Re: Pioneer PL-71 Refurbishment

Rega r200 bearings are not too bad to adjust, just fiddly so patience is needed. They are no worse than any other bearings
Ive just got an acos lustre gst1 to play with, need to make a tool or buy one so the bearings on that one can be tweaked.
Dont know what to fit it to yet

Re: NVA Pre With Non-NVA Power

the gain for the same degree of rotation of the volume control knob may not be the same level for both pre's. Also, a tvc can somtimes have gain taps as it is a transformer, although there can be a distortion increase when they are used. Wether your tvc has these i dont know. Chances are, if both ar...

Re: BMU

I wouldnt have thought there would be any issue, the balanced mains unit I built is powering my amp, turntable, dac and phono stage. However, mine is not the same as the docs, but i cant see it being a problem. I wouldnt bother plugging a nas ect into it, sources and amps yes, ancillaries probably n...

Re: What turntabe do you use and why ?

I have only ever had one belt drive suspended subchassis deck that I wish I still had. I tried loads ( i mean loads!), lp12, td 150 and 160, ( 4 or 5 of these) leak truspeed pioneer pl12 and a systemdek.

The only one ever to come close was a yamaha pf 800.

It was absolutely lovely.

Re: What turntabe do you use and why ?

I have the jbe series 3 and mayware formula 4 which I have an emotional attachment to so will never sell. The jvc ql-y5f which I use all the time as it is so convenient to use and sounds brilliant A 301 which needs a plinth building when i have the time, one of my lenco conversions which doubles as ...
