Re: What turntable do you use and why ?

http://tinypic.com/usermedia.php?uo=NuVqmzAy%2FKxFQ%2Fn8MdeCIYh4l5k2TGxc This one! Took many iterations to get to this, from big oil bath bearings to this current, opposing magnet set up. Made the plinth at home and all the machined parts at work. Couple of the main issues was getting the clearance ...

Re: Mini review

Totally agree, I'm sure my simple attempt with just a 20k alps pot will be way short of what's really required 😁

Mini review

Evening all, Thought I'd do a wee review of my new purchases from Richard to lighten the mood somewhat and refocus on what's important to us here. I had a week with the ap20 loan stuff and thoroughly enjoyed it. I haven't heard many systems at all really, but really enjoyed the marantz Pearl lite st...

Re: Led Zeppelin

Too young to have seen them live but have seen page and plant live at various venues over the years. Have all the studio albums on remaster and classic reissues. Quite a lot of boots on vinyl too, mainly the better recordings or sound boards. Awesome band in my opinion.

P20/A20 review

Having picked up the loan kit on Monday evening and having a quick listen, I settled down last night for a good few hours of playing music to see if my initial impressions still held. I was thinking that maybe there was a slight lift in the upper frequencies as voices and guitar solo's seemed to sta...

Re: P20 / A20 starter pre and power amplifier loan scheme

Well, had an hours listen to these diminutive black boxes and first impressions are wow, how does it do that! If that's what the starter set does then I'm in 😀 better review to follow,

Re: Introduce Yourselves

Well, I get bored at work! It currently has a 60mm platter and an inverted bearing with opposing magnets now. I'll post some pictures in a separate thread at some point

Re: P20 / A20 starter pre and power amplifier loan scheme

Morning Richard,
I'd like to take you up on your offer of the loan set, I'm very interested to see how it sounds. I'm round at Dartford so not too far away from Sidcup. I could pick it up one afternoon next week, I finish work at 15:30 so could be there about 16:30, 17:00.

Re: Introduce Yourselves

Evening all, Usual story, been lurking a while and thought it'd be best to join up and join in. My main source is a diy turntable using a gyro motor and home built psu. Also use a marantz pearl lite cd player and the matching amp. Phono stage is an EE minimax running through a diy passive into the p...
