Re: Why do people join hi-fi forums
It has been said that French is the language of the poet and lover, where as English has become the language of business. Pah! We produced Shakespeare, so we win over every other language, for ever. Only because our million monkeys on a million typewriters started before everyone else's did....

Re: Should Britain remain in Europe. ?
You see this is what puzzles me, everything is emotion. Where are the facts, why do you feel this way or is it just feelings. I remember when Europe had all its different currencies, it was a PITA. When every country had import duty, it was a severe PITA, just look at buying something on ebay from ...

Re: Peter Gabriel 45rpm remasters
It is the re-mastering you are having an issue with, not the digital file. Your analogue original will still have been converted to digital for the cutting lathe. The re-mastering engineer probably feels that his take on things is the better effort. Of course these things are completely subjective. ...

Re: NEBO 6 set for November 2015
It's all pityfull. Music and hifi is my hobby since 1978 ish. I have never been and will never ever get anywhere near a bake off, show or any other excuse to give a fellow entheusiast a bashing. . If it is not your bag then fair enough, I'm not really a very social person either, not with big gathe...

Re: NEBO 6 set for November 2015
I think you need to go and read the old posts, my taking that room was to HELP pay for it i.e. sponsorship (look the word up). From that point Marco went out of his way, including privately as I evidence of, to put people off going and to try and harm the event. But anyway, the rest of your post pr...

Re: NEBO 6 set for November 2015
No that wasn't what happened. You didn't sponser me - you asked to have a room and I agred. You were happy to pay for your room. I was fronting all the other costs (which wasn't much) so there would be no charge for attending. There was a lot of enthusiasm and I got a lot of PMs from folk asking if ...

Re: Should Britain remain in Europe. ?
No, your attempt to railroad through your definition is much more fascististic. In fact I've just looked up 'fascist' in the dictionary and there is a picture of you.....

Only if you are Rik from 'The Young Ones'. Or are being ironic in a postmodernist way.Daniel Quinn wrote:O contre , you are fascist is a germane succinct and often applicable comment .

Re: Should Britain remain in Europe. ?
A definition that will depend on the dictionary - I don't have one to hand but I would imagine a complete dictionary would have quite long entries for 'fascist' and 'fascism' given their multitude of uses, as Joe and I have already explained. My principle objection is that its use in a knee-jerk, ra...
