Les Wolstenholme. I spent five hours at his place just before Christmas. He had set the day aside for my visit. Honoured to say the least. A fine gentleman if ever there was one and his products make music.

Re: which speakers for Doc mods ?
Thanks DQ.
I have been thinking (dangerous).
All this talk about steel lining wooden enclosures - would it be a good idea to fabricate some steel enclosures and forget about the timber altogether ? I have a welder, can weld and have some mild steel of 6mm thickness laying around somewhere.

The ultimate subjectivist system
What is it ? Is there a general consensus from people on HFS about which products are designed for the music and not the measurements and silly graphs ? which speakers for Doc mods ?
Hello,
I am interested in Doc modding some speakers.
What type of speaker is best suited to this ?
Small standmounted or floorstander
ported or sealed
I have a small pair of mordaunt short budget stand mounts but i think they are rear ported.
Thanks, Stu

Re: Transformers
I wouldn't put an EI on the output stage of a class AB power amp but preamps, phono stage, dac, clock, cdp anologue stage are all fair game for a bit of experimenting i feel. Hey even the regulated front end of my power amps can benefit from an EI transformer i am lead to believe.

Re: Consumerism
Hope you enjoy your purchase.
I build my own or modify stuff now, well the things within my ability.
I have a lot of Avondale audio DIY modules and other diy kits which have given me hours of enjoyment building and listening. Saved a heap of cash too.
