Re: Updating my streamer. From ATB to Pi4
Well of course now you are using a completely new set up how can you tell where the improvements have come from? What made you go with optical over SPDIF?, I can understand you wanting to get rid of usb and all the faff that causes, it is something I will be experimenting with when I eventuall...

Re: Tinker, Tailor, Streamer, Pi.
Well, this is getting interesting. It seems that Volumio is quite happy to see the HiFiBerry Digi2 Pro as a HiFiBerry Digi+ Pro (the previous incarnation of the card) as an i 2 S DAC board. It does say, in the blurb, " HiFiBerry Digi2 Pro is a high-quality S/PDIF output for the Raspberry Pi. I...

Re: Tinker, Tailor, Streamer, Pi.
Sorry Slinger I appear to have ignored your new purchase of a Vincent Dac 1, to which I will put right now. I've looked on the net but can find little, although I do know Vincent make good amps so will assume this dac is more than decent, and they do make a Dac 7 with valves. Good luck in sorting ou...

What tonearm did you have on your PT Anni?Daniel Quinn wrote: ↑Thu Sep 16, 2021 8:34 pm You can get a rega 300 for £200 from eBay.
If you find yourself with 1 hand/arm , I cant see how you could justify spending more.

Re: Tinker, Tailor, Streamer, Pi.
So adding a second switch improved things, ok, I just thought using one switch and an ethernet cable to your streamer from the switch would be better. Less is more, but not in the case of ethernet switches

Re: Tinker, Tailor, Streamer, Pi.
Just giving a little more thought, the 2940 and 2960 can both split the signal?, if that is the case and you wanted to change from ethernet to optical, why not just use the 2960 and your new purchase, removing the 2940 from the system?

Re: Tinker, Tailor, Streamer, Pi.
It is a bit complicated. Gone are the days when it was just a TT/CDP, amp and speakers. The sky router is connected to the Cisco 2960 by a short length of ethernet cable. The router is directly connected to the Sky Q box by an ethernet cable. This is because, for some reason, a connection to ...

Re: Tinker, Tailor, Streamer, Pi.
You will have to clarify a couple of things for me CN. What else is going through Cisco 2960 apart from your hifi stream? What else is going through your Cisco 2940 apart from your hifi stream? These two switches are connected? - 2960 to Sonore Optical using ethernet cable, then optical cable to the...
