Re: Tinker, Tailor, Streamer, Pi.

The guys at Audiophile Style don't like using shielded cables any more. Unshielded offers better performance apparently. Funny how these things go in cycles. My understanding is that the more EMI there is the greater the need for shielding. I am doubtful if shielding has detrimental effects. So the...

Re: Antonio's 'back home' system

Andrew certainly is a nice bloke, cured the hum and repaired something else as well, all for a reasonable cost. Haven't had time to listen much, but they do sound great now. Since changing to the correct tubes, the amp is in outstanding form.

Re: Tinker, Tailor, Streamer, Pi.

Shielded from router to switch, especially if you have a long run, we don't, and unshielded from switch to streamer. Melco suggest the floating end of the cable going to the best shielded component, either the switch or streamer but freely admit nothing is carved in stone.

Re: Tinker, Tailor, Streamer, Pi.

The Melco C100 has a floating shield, not sure the AQ Vodka does, and don't forget we have had the Muon cable in there without the filter.

Re: Tinker, Tailor, Streamer, Pi.

CN: We're using Audioquest Vodka from router to switch and Melco C100 from switch to streamer. We are trialing a new switch in the system at the moment, I'll give further info in due course.

Re: Tinker, Tailor, Streamer, Pi.

@y NSNO2021 To be honest we were a little disappointed in the Muon, some tracks seemed to loose their 'get up and go', smoothing the sound too much, although this can be beneficial on other tracks. The effect was very subtle to our old and not so golden ears. We have received two AES/EBU cables, a ...

Re: Tinker, Tailor, Streamer, Pi.

I was unable to format the Fanxiang SSD, don't know why, it showed on my pc as a external disc, but when trying to format it wasn't there! I've returned it. I'm tempted by this one:- https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08DK2FB7G/ https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71sgX4axm2L._AC_SX425_.jpg since it is su...
