Blind Child's all-time fav film is likely, The Seventh Seal. Seal is about a knight who returns disspirited from The Crusades, questioning God. His "fool" is ,even darker - but always with a mocking smile - totally caustic when it comes to God and how people are manipulated by religion. They return to Sweden - a landscape of misery.

Andrei Rublev is also about traversing a landscape of grotesques and misery. Rublev is a monk, an itinerant icon-painter. He strives to hold on to his faith in the face of a cruel time when Russia was under the thumb of the Tartar horde in 15th century. But daily iniquities witnessed and even pagan rituals do not keep him from his course and devotion to God.
Astounding landscapes here, so best seen on wide-screen.
Moves slowly, so if your into fast-action,trigger-finger niggah-film, this is not for you,Jimmeh.

This is deffo NOT cocksure American-hero film.

There are some great films on this list.

Laurel and Hardy's The Music Box is a great comedy.

Nosferatu is flawed, but has some mega classic and very scarey scenes.

Citizzen Kane is an epic film.

Ice Cold in Alex is a great war film. Or more like, it was the forerunner of Top Gear and the Grand Tour.

All of the Ealing comedies have charm and an understated sense of humour.

And then there's Dr Strangelove...

Yes, ice cold in Alex has to be up there - what about sea of sand?

Which ealing comedies would you recommend.

(I guess Passport To Pilmico is the big one.)

Most, if not all the Ealing Comedies are highly wtchable.

The Lavender Hill Mob - as already mentioned by Latteman is a good one.

I'm All Righ Jack reminds me of my time working at a manufacturing company. Maybe a lot of people working there used it as their role model?

The Man in the White Suit also takes a look at industrial relations.

Whsky Galore reminds me of the time I visited a friends family near Lochgilphead.

And then there's School for Scoundrels... "Hard Cheese!"

Must include Tiger Bay, partly because of the location. Hayley Mills recently appeared in a programme talking about this film which made her famous.
