Give that I rather liked Warehouse 13, but cannot get on with the Librarians - am I likely to like the Fringe. I didn't mind the X Files in that I wouldn't switch channels if it was on, however I never stayed in, or set the VCR for it.

Doesn't that rather date me?

It was made by Seth MacFarlane (Family Guy) and through the two series (so far) actors and actresses from the "real" Star Trek keep turning up. One of the leads is actually Penny Johnson Jerald who played Capt. Sisko's love interest Kasidy Yates in DS9, Robert Picardo (the emergency holographic doctor in Voyager) is the father of one of the crew, and John Billingsley (Neelix from Voyager) also turns up as a villain. Steven Culp who played Major Hayes in Enterprise appears too, along with Tim Russ (Tuvok), Marina Sirtis (Deanna Troi), and a few others I've forgotten. Ted Danson, Rob Lowe, Liam Neeson, Charlize Theron, and Bruce Willis also pop up.

You can tell it's made with love, by a fan, right down to the music. The bigger the Trekkie you are the more in-jokes you'll get, but you don't have to be a rabid fan to enjoy it.
I love The Orville got series 2 for Xmas gift coming from my dear wife. Series 1 was fantastic on my NAS now so I can watch in my PIT Cabin on my Hudl
Funny at time but with added moral twists and no bloody Klingon I hate those things. They are just so brain dead how they got space travel is odd.
It can be done so imagine it.

Much as I still love Red Dwarf, The Orville is Red Dwarf for grownups. Rather twisted and at times quite juvenile grownups though.

Babylon 5 anyone? I still think it's one of the best sci-fi series ever. The individual, very long in some cases, story arcs were so unusual for American TV and actually required people to remember characters and events from previous seasons. Some others I've watched... Farscape was another one I enjoyed, and Torchwood, which was more "edgy" than most. Eureka and Warehouse 13 were both fun. I've just finished watching Dark Matter, that was pretty good. Marvel's Agents Of Shield held my attention, but I'm a sucker for the Marvel Cinematic Universe anyway.

B5 was excellent. Fine story arcs and great characters.

How about the reimagined Battlestar Galactica? Again a very well conceived series. It spawned a good board game too.

We bought the B5 box set, so we could watch it again. Firefly was good, Joss Whedon (Buffy, Angel, Serenity, Dollhouse...) created it. Did you ever see "Castle," the TV series? It starred Nathan Fillion from Firefly and in one episode "Castle" was going to a fancy dress party. and he actually went wearing his uniform from Firefly. I cracked up.

Battlestar Galactica I've got on Blu-ray, and only watched about half of it before real life stuff intervened. I'll have to reinvestigate it one of these days.

No to much like the Hobbit in space and predictably boring.
