The only place I have seen any mention of Teddy Pardo is PFM. Isn't it made in Israel and sent from there. Anyway any direct seller who doesn't rip-off their customers is welcomed by me.

Everybody is entitled to an opinion but 5 minutes on the naughty step for anybody who has had a pop at teddy without hearing any of his products. I have no problem with those who have heard and have been underwhelmed.

I am looking at NVA with an open mind. If it it better to my ears than teddy then it's "hello Doc". If not then the teddy stays. My problem is in getting what I perceive as a like-for-like comparison.

No flak jacket needed as I am seriously considering banning myself from pfm. Some people thete are less than "sensible".

I'm also thinking of banning myself from the naim forum. Does a self imposed ban allow me to vote for 2 in the how many forums have you been banned from poll ?

Doc, teddy's business model is to charge 3 x the component.cost (my understanding is that the industry norm is 10 x). Built in Israel and posted to the UK. Vat is chargeable on top.of.his.prices. Apparently, it is not unknown for the post office to forget to collect the vat. The products are duty free.

I think he has a similar "problem" to NVA in that no dealer slurp = no interest from the mainstream press and websites. Naim recently had the balls to run a thread about teddy so they do deserve some credit for that.

I do feel a tad guilty for taking your original LS6 off your hands!

I have heard Teddy Pardo once. My impression was of a rather dry sound (show conditions). In spite of the looks and influence they certainly sound very different to Naim. Certainly a brand worth investigating but dealing with Israel has to be a problem for servicing. Based on the brief listen I wasn't overly enthusiastic but a lot worse sounding kit out there + they look reasonably priced compared with established brands.

The 10x margin usually includes dealer markup too and varies from manufacturer to manufacturer (Rega used to be 7x cost to retail but I suspect this varies/increases as you go up their range).

Don't know how the Doc found this when he had a dealer network, but the 80/20 rule seems to apply still. 20% of dealers do 80% of the business...

The 80/20 rule is interesting. It it because the 20% really believe in the product range or is it a combination of belief plus a generous markup. IIRC "the customer buys but the seller chooses".

Being naïve still, I put it down to dealer commitment and customer base. I mean KJ W1, couldn't really be an enthusiastic dealer for Pro-ject or baby Rega I wouldn't have thought and the Rega Reference stuff wouldn't have the cachet of much of the Absolute Sounds portfolio they specialise in. On the other hand, my very local Naim dealer probably sells Naim, Linn and now Rega because it helps keep him in business (he's completely about-faced in the last twenty years) and I'm sure the 'business head' is over-ruling everything else - having said that, they have been well equipped for multi-room and AV for years, so streaming becomes a good extension of this :)

Hello Woody... Long time no speakee!

It was LS5 I recall? But then I'm not too good at counting.

Went the whole hog and got both NVA A70 power amps and Cube 2's. How are the A80's?
Primare CD22. Primare DAB/FM radio. SSP to NVA AP70 and AP10H(JS) with Denon AH-D7100's. LS5 to Cube2's.
