Well he is one sad unhappy man, so leave him with his bile and fuming, back to the subject.

I see the main problem as being the amount of bullshit that flows around anything to do with AVi. They may be ok / good, they may be ok / good value, but they certainly aren't what the owner of the company portrays them as. I think this is the point that Lindsay is making.

This industry relies so much on creating band wagons and brainwashes instead of creating excellence. Often it is the words and who says them that are more important than the reality, the sponsor of that forum in What Hi-Fi being a classic example. We don't need to be told we need to listen, how and to what is the problem. How to make product available to be judged. This is why I think the bake-off system as pioneered by hifiwigwam is to be applauded, I wish we did more of it. We need a forum bake-off promoter to get people to open their system up for a day or evening, with maybe a couple of alternatives brought in.

Personally I would love to put a P20/A20/Cubette/Computer thingy mi bob at £750 for the complete system up against the AVi in a bake-off.

Wishful thinking

He is the water rat, as made famous in Wind in the Willows. Much nicer things than dry land rats, though I am told the land ones make very good pets.

Not too much has been said on their private? forum for possibly obvious reasons, but I believe AVI is actually under new ownership and has been for much of this year. The designer can now work on other projects if he so pleases and Ash may still be the mouthpiece, but I believe that's it. The new owner stays totally in the background, like the designer used to. Will be interesting to some if any new models appear in the future.

It would be better for them and everyone else if *the mouth* was sacked or pensioned off. My problem has only been with him and his sidekick Jesus Christ from Brum not with the company as such.
