If the Planet dies, you get in touch with Rega and have it serviced! The Naim has a solid box and LOADS of those little tantalum caps. They must buy them by the tens of thousands as they're used so much in their gear

Rega are one of those makers that do their upmost to support old gear they made, even the original Planet turntable from over forty years ago! They only give up when spares run out and in fairness, they do keep backup stock for a goodly while. As far as I'm aware, the clamshell Planet can still be serviced.
If you wanted to try something totally different, you could do a heck of a lot worse than a five year old Cambridge 840 (with extra digital inputs). Either that, or a sub £500 DAC with transport of your choice (jitter was all but banished some time ago IMO).
