These would make a great little project. Sort out the bass driver surrounds and the crossovers for some 16" high efficiency listening pleasure. :dance:

Big old Altecs are generally a lot more affordable than big old JBL's.

Yes, could be a nice project, there's a US company (forgot the name) that could help with the crossovers and Altec drivers. 8-)

I was nearly scammed for a Altec 604g in Heritage cabs once,
when i said could i view before concluding,he went quiet, scumbag.

Spot on, thats them, i was in contact with GPA at one stage thinking to import all the bits and commission a build here,

Knocking together a Frankenstein project using compression drivers and horns and 12" or 15" bass drivers from Altec / EV / JBL via ebay / GPA would also be a nice project - and make transportation costs from the US more affordable. The trickiest bit would probably be coming up with suitable bass bins.
