Alan Sugar - He was a typical East End Jewish lad from a poor family around Hackney. He had a stall on Hackney Marshes market and sold old stuff old radios TVs and car aerials etc. He spotted a way to make money out of the hi-fi business starting to happen. In those days Garrard / BSR didn't plinth and cover their cheap decks like the SP25, other companies bought the chassis and put them in plinths and covers. Covers were fabricated, so expensive. Sinclair found someone with a plastic heat press to form them cheaply and supplied cheap covers to the market, and remember Garrard and BSR cheap decks sold by the thousand back then. That is how he got his first capital and obviously had a good business sense as everything came out of that.

Rags to riches jobby.
