Dual 606 turntable modification
Dual 606 turntable modification
I thought I would share one of my recent d.i.y ventures which is the modification of my dual 606 turntable. if your interested in the spec for this turntable please follow this link:http://www.vinylengine.com/library/dual/cs-606.shtml
My goals for this modification were to replace the gash particle board base with a solid wood construction, to replace the cheap RCA cables with female interconnects and make new RCA cables, externalise the earth cable by way of a quality earth binding post and replace the crappy plug with a kettle lead type connection.
Here are some pics of the finished results…

Re: Dual 606 turntable modification
I just bought a 1014 to play singles on, it cost me £1.20 on eBay.

Re: Dual 606 turntable modification
It will go into the ever changing main system which depends on what I am working on or developing. The sources stay consistent though, which this Dual will be added to.

The sony DAC CD combo you have there is certainly highly regarded by the vintage knob! They appear to be like rocking horse shit as well!
I would love to know how your Dual 1014 sounds when it's up and running!

Re: Dual 606 turntable modification
eBay seems down at the moment for me Old Duals, like other auto decks, almost certainly share a common platform of auto mechanicals, the 10 series seeming to last slickly for ever with little attention needed. Some careful lubrication of idler, main bearing and motor bearings would be to advantage and Vinyl Engine is a great source of manuals and info on the forums there.
Not sure on the arm on this model, but a 1015 a chap on AOS bought seemed to be great with Stanton 500/Shure M3-D or any 'EJ'/G800 style of cartridge fitted. The 1019 can take sub 2g trackers with ease.
