Feet fitted; the amps are now in their new home and playing as I write this:

Where do your old home builds go - to the attic?

I used to canniblize them for parts for the next big thing, but a guy on Audio Talk wants to buy my old amp.
So what I'll do is polish it up, do a few safety checks and get it PAT tested before selling it on.
He's an enthusiastic DIYer like me so what he does with it is up to him, but I'll know it is as safe as it can be before
I part with it.

On a general note, I think that this is what hi-fi is about, for me personally at least. Audio is a wonderful hobby and there is no substitute for a high-end music system driven from vinyl or uncompressed digital files, through equipment you made yourself.
High end sound is achievable at a fraction of the cost of dealer based bullshit systems and building your own gear and understanding how things work is a great feeling, when you put theory into practice and produce good sound.
I think folks who don't have the skills to build their own equipment should seek out people who can do it, like the Doc, Stan Beresford, Nick Gorham and a few others and buy from them.
They need to wean themselves off the bling, bullshit and bluster and get back to the roots of what hi-fi is all about.

Ditch red braces and shoulder-pad hi-fi folks! It's out of date corporate bullshit! Go on!
You know it makes sense.

I just wish I could get more young people involved in this hobby.

It might help if you posted those sentiments on TAS and not just here. Here you largely preach to the converted, it is the rest of the forums where the bullshit thrives. Just look at what is going on with Mike Music at the moment

The amps are running beautifully with their Tube Amp Doctor EL34Bs in the output stages. Four months down the line, I'm completely happy with them. They are clean and musical with a wicked way with bass lines. ;)

That’s great! It must be very rewarding to hear how your own design and built comes to live and works as intended at first place.
