Nice price,and the Doc mod speakers are good for any other project if this one fails.The cabinets are nice quality and the ultimate in Danish design in their day.I have a pair as original in our house in the western isles tagged on to an Onkyo compact unit just to give a noise but it would be nice to upgrade it.So I will wait with interest to see how you get on,I still have to mod my Linn Keilidh past taking the wadding out but will try out doping first on a cheap set of speakers to get my confidence before I try the Linn ones.

The cabinets are now the best i can get them cosmetically, so time to move on to the next phase.
The doped drivers are here and thankfully fit perfectly..

They're hardly going to win a beauty contest, but as i'd rather use my ears than eyes it's no issue.
Unfortunately i've no steel plate to hand and would rather do this on the "cheap" so the next best thing i have is lead flashing..

Image

Work in progress at the moment and the first lead sheets have been fitted and cabinets well and truly sealed..

Now awaiting on the caps and resistors to arrive so i can wire the lot up and have a listen :guiness;

Try and get the lead on the front and rear of the cab as well.

Should be easy enough, the lead is soft enough to cut with scissors.

I found a load of lead in one of my sheds and thought (rightly or not) that it'd be better than aluminium.
Too late now, it's in..

A question, the mid sits in this tube..

Keep it, or not?

If I am not mistaken that tube is a back box. Does the tube have a bottom with just a hole for the wiring to come through ?

Doc told me it was not needed if bass and mid are wired in series.

Well, the modded speaker is wired up and playing next to the standard one.
Some difference between the two, thats for sure!
The standard seems to bring more detail, but the treble/mid is pretty raw and quite painful to listen to in comparison.
Sadly no more time for listening tonight, but will hopefully mod the other one over the weekend and see what happens :guiness;
I should imagine a lot of "running in" will be required.
