Down firing woofer ?

Unread post by karatestu »

Are there any advantages to doing this ? I had an idea about it.

Would a doc doped 12" woofer sag with all that extra mass of bison kit and plastidip ?

My idea was a 12" down firing woofer, 5" upward firing mid & forward firing tweeter. The sides of the cab could be sloped from a wide bottom panel to a narrow top panel, just wide enough to take the 5" mid. Tweeter right at the top of the baffle. Speaker would have to be on legs to get it a few inches off the ground.

Not a good idea for many reasons, but I am sorry I can't be bothered to enter into a full discussion on the merits.
