I've got some of those fitted in one of my speaker projects.

IMO they are no better sounding than 4mm test sockets, for example http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Panel-Mounted ... SwXetZOVxK The only problem I have found lately is that it seems difficult to find longer lengths required to go through cabinet panels.

Hey, thanks for the suggestions.

Having a nice long shaft  is good to go through thicker panels. Not essential in my case though.

The ones in the ebay link look a bit like the ones Naim used to fit to the back panels of their olive range power amps. :naughty:

Having them insulated is a definite advantage as I can then mount them through aluminium plate.

I suppose the purveyors of expensive foo would have you believe that the expensive ones are worth the money. But are they really ???
