Start with the 1990's unit (what parts of the NAD used and modifications) as a matter of interest. Follow by what you propose to do. (new donor machine and how much used). It's got a lot to do with everything especially if you want peeps to put up money - how good will the transport used be - potential sound quality etc. Don't need to give away any trade secrets.Dr Bunsen Honeydew wrote:Sorry post makes no sense, unless I have been writing things in my sleep.
Are you talking about the 1990s units or what I propose now. And what has this got to do with anything anyway.

Nope ! if in doubt don't do it.
Anyway I don't have the answers yet, I suppose you could say it is question of faith in my ability to do it.

Re: New!!!!! NVA CD players
No but I would like to have an outline to Richard's approach to the 1990s design. Also I think basing it on a proper high quality CD transport rather than something you get in a computer makes a difference. (among a lot of other things). Using a good Sony if that were still possible would be fine. It would have to be better than Marco's heavily modded machine.Daniel Quinn wrote:

Re: New!!!!! NVA CD players
Well that is the obvious reference as that is what I use. I cannot guarantee that and it is a big challenge. I can guarantee it will be better than what you use at the momentapplemarc wrote:I would only buy a statement CD player if it was better than that old Sony CD & Dac the Doc has
I will know more about possibilities when the Black Box ones are built (if I get the ten orders)
Re: New!!!!! NVA CD players
I'm interested - I will send a deposit at the weekend although I think it might struggle to make 10. The theory is that the DAC is not even remotely as important as the power supplies as we have discussed before.
