Doc,
Other than the power output, is there any difference between the two that impacts sound quality?
My Coincident speakers are 92db efficient with an impedance of 14 ohms never dropping below 10 ohms so I am thinking I could easily live with the A40's and have some money left over to buy the Phono 2.

Everything is better about A80's, and should be. Same as everything is better than A80s with the Statement Amps. IMO single thing improvements don't exist in hi-fi, if they do you are just exchanging it with something else.
