Don't be daft, who said that would be a good idea. More forum nonsense.

Plenty of crimped connections in critical systems on aircraft, in fact solder in connectors is almost unheard of. That said I have never come across a crimped connector in a ground based audio system. One advantage of crimping is that it largely removes the skill, or otherwise, of the operator from the equation, you can't get a dry joint if you crimp. As far as audio cables are concerned you would, I think, be hard pressed to find crimp terminals in a connector. Theoretically an RCA plug could have a crimped pin but I have never seen one, likewise the pins in an XLR but again I haven't seen one. DIN plugs could also be made as crimp terminals but as most of them seem to be moulded it is academic, I don't have any anyway.

Given the scarcity or crimp connectors and the additional tooling costs for a low volume manufacturer why would you bother?

Ah...clearer now, i wasn't thinking it being interconnects, i use Atlas speaker cables and they are crimped,
no matter how i tried i couldn't pull one of the Z plugs off. :)

Doc thanks for the quick turn around. It arrived yesterday. Had to collect it from the depot today as I was being mugged by bookies at Cheltenham and my wife was out. Initial impressions are favourable and it is a keeper. I will write a review after some extended listening. Will also update my review of the Phono 1 now it is connected to SSP Mk2.
