Ref: Phono 2 + PSU connection

Unread post by Berty bass »

Dear all, quick question from a newbie owner - does it matter which cable connects to which between the preamp and the PSU? Also - and this is going to be laughable to some - does it matter if I have to have the preamp on its side (dons tin helmet and ducks behind sofa)?

Do you mean phono2 not pre-amp. Anyway I will presume that. Either cable either hole. Upside down if you want, it matters not. Just keep the PSUs away from the head unit.

Great - question answered. Thank you. Of the two - PSU or head - which can be closer to my amp (considering the need to keep both as far apart as possible)?

It is a transformer that you need to keep the headunit away from or it will hum from the field emitted by the transformer. Anyway you can tell easily just hold the phono 2 and listen, as you move it nearer to a transformer so you will hear the hum (obviously connected to TT and volume up somewhat), put it where you get least hum.
