That is correct when you use 'Direct' as an output rather than as an input.

Using 'Direct' as an input will bypass the switch selector but not the volume control...

Thanks for the replies guys.

OK sorry but I'm a tad confused now. I realize the direct input bypasses the switch and goes through the pot, but can I use this as a tape out (output) to go to my headphone amp? It would be great for me if it could. I did not think possible but after seeing that diagram that Scotty drew up I'm having second thoughts. Can I do this?

I will post up my thoughts on the amp sound quality a bit later.....

Yes - 'direct' can be used as input or output.
