New names and numbers for NVA Power Amplifiers - discussion thread

Apart from Edwards already using it for a turntable, I think the name is dreadful. It's like apologising for something not being very good.

Apologies in advance, but Model Worker. means nothing to me..

Why not use musical terminology throughout the range, starting with for example...

Dolcissimo - "Very sweet" for the entry range, perhaps culminating in "Maestro" being the best you can produce?

I also tend to agree with some other forum members in retaining the A20, A30, A 80 etc.

Presumably you both feel that it can enhance the selling to the “unconverted”
As it is your livelihood that is on the line - so be it!

Model worker is a totally shit name. It hardly describes the properties or placement for the amp. Don't sink your brand Paul with bad marketing. Objections are not because we are a bunch of old farts. I'm sure you could think up a series of product names that have some connection with product positioning and roll of the tongue rather better. Most manufacturers stick to a numbering system for good reason. Also it's worth checking if your naming or numbering translates badly in other languages or is taboo or something in certain places.

Don't try to teach me how to suck eggs. Model Worker plays very well on the continent where it is recognised as synonymous with increased production.

Sorry Paul but I wouldn't buy an amplifier called the Model Worker, is that someone who works at modelling, someone who is a model of a worker or a worker who models the highest standards. I know you intend it to mean the last of those but it is open to interpretation. However if you are intending to sell into a market that views things differently it might work.

A good name needs be unambiguous and meaningful or simply a term that conveys a position in a progression. Something musical would seem appropriate but there are already musical terms used for audio equipment. How about The Prelude, the Overture, the Concerto, the Symphony, the Opera and possibly the Grand Opera?

It isn't going to affect me, I can't afford a new system and I am happy with what I have. Remember that I get to play, as an amateur, with live sound so my priorities are different. I do want you to continue though and getting the name right is important.

Nothing wrong with that but surely you want something that trips off the tongue and, preferably, does so in different languages. I suppose Exemplar wouldn't work?
