I thought it only fluctuated less than 2 decimal points from the whole number as if it wasn't stable we would be in trouble.

Re: Longdog PSU with Lenco GL75
I cannot comment about the technicalities of Nicks supply, I have had one on loan for a while and the time came to think about returning it so I took it out ready to take it back. That lasted one evening, it's now back in the system, I bought it instead.

Would you be able to characterise the difference it made in any way?

Re: Longdog PSU with Lenco GL75
I am not particularly good with Audio Speak but yes I can try .
Without writing an essay, the main difference I found using Nicks supply was the music is cleaner, and easier to listen to for extended time periods, quiet passages are cleaner and less noisy, the whole musical presentation is crisper, there is a tangible sonic improvement. From a useability viewpoint once you have locked the speed with the supply of then it stays rock solid with no drift in pitch.
Diminishing returns and expectation bias etc can all be levelled at any piece of kit we buy particularly at this price point, but it's my system and I pay the bills and in my opinion ( which is the only one that counts ) Nicks supply is worth every penny.

So you agree what you said there was wrong then. It's runs of 50 hertz. This doesn't fluctuate even though voltage deos.

No, although perhaps I should have said, it fluctuates at the level of the 2nd decimal point, if you can hear this you are a better man than me.
Have you got measurement to 3 decimal points for the long dog?

Yes, perhaps you should have said that, you would have been right then.Daniel Quinn wrote: ↑Fri Oct 23, 2020 10:42 am No, although perhaps I should have said, it fluctuates at the level of the 2nd decimal point, if you can hear this you are a better man than me.

If you look here you will see that it can vary 10 times more than that.

Yep, I have measurements to 3dp though not with a calibrated meter, but I have several ways of measuring frequency to that level of accuracy.. The speed control on the front of the unit sets the frequency in 0.01Hz steps. Its clock source is a 30ppm tolerance crystal, so thats 0.0015Hz.
But as I say, the frequency is a relatively easy thing to get right. Its likely to be the distortion or lack of it that people report making a difference.
