FFFFFFFF'ing Computers Hate Me!!!!

Unread post by Dr Bunsen Honeydew »

HELP :?

I can only post this here as we have no other business type room. Anyway last evening I got fed up with Google Chrome running slow and my mouse pointer jumping on trying to write. So I removed Chrome and reloaded it via Firefox, which I also have, it loaded fine, but then Firefox started playing up so I binned that meaning to reload it today, and went to bed and shut down the computer. I have woken up this morning to a bonkers computer, the shortcut to Chrome no longer works it says it doesn't link to chrome. AND worse my Windows Mail has gone bonkers, all my past posts are listed but when you try to look at them it says:- Message cannot be found
The contents of this message cannot be found.
Windows Mail
Also all of the links to getting, sending etc mail are now not linkable, i.e. the black is removed from the print on the links and none of the links work.

I have got on here because luckily Internet Explorer is still working even though I haven't used it for years.

HELP

The only advice I can give you may not want to hear.
Ask applemarc to sell you a Mac and be done with the stress PC's bring.

If it were my PC I'd rebuild it. As in do a quick reformat of the hard disks and re-install Windows and then re-install any applications.

This would fix it at the expense of losing any documents that haven't been saved onto something else.

Spending time trying to fix a misbehaving PC without rebuilding it just isn't worth it when a PC rebuild takes 30 minutes of my time and 2 hours of the PC's time.

I find computers totally infuriating when they don't work properly.

Sorry, but Lindsayt is right. Time for a recovery or a rebuild. If it's Windows 7 it shouldn't be too bad to do. (I take it it's your 'other PC' and not the TFS).

If you fancy something different to PC or laptop and have good WiFi then how about a tablet? People are only saying good things about the Google Nexus 7 tablet. It's built for them by Asus and by all accounts is a quality equal to Apple. Android OS is only getting more popular and you will be familiar with the Google interface from Chrome already (which hopefully is more stable on their own OS).

Best thing is the price - £200 for 16GB model or £150 for 8GB. A bargain.
