Some advice please.
I'm sitting here with a large gin on a Friday night and I've decided to ask for some advice. No, thanks anyway, but "It's Friday night pal, get a life!" is redundant. I had one of those and abused it with gusto for many years until my body asked, nay, BEGGED, me to slow down.
What I've been thinking is this - I've got a couple of DAB tuners, and while I love the multiplicity of available stations the majority of those stations are not exactly what I'd call high fidelity. So, no news there then, everyone already knows that. What I'm wondering is, do you think the tuners would benefit from being passed through a Musical Fidelity X-10V on the way to the amp?
I will now prepare myself for the onslaught of villagers replete with torches and pitchforks.

Re: Some advice please.
Michaelson is a marketing man, and an average clarinetist. He is famous for coming up with "the next world beating new product" I have given up even reading about them let alone trying them as I have seen this since "The Pre-Amp" in the mid 80's.
So crack on, try it and tell us if he has finally found the Holy Grail of hi-fi.

The idea was to get some advice BEFORE I parted with some very limited "disposable" income, but thanks anyway.Dr Bunsen Honeydew wrote: So crack on, try it and tell us if he has finally found the Holy Grail of hi-fi.

Sorry, but I have never heard about it or heard it, so little or no advice to give, just experience of the industry and MF's place in it.
Though he has made some good product like the original A1 and then famously ruining his reputation by cheapening it in production after the review samples.

Re: Some advice please.
Anyone actually heard (of) the X-10 and willing to impart sage advice then?
I'm not going to antagonize the Doc, at least until the 3 Sound Cords I ordered via eBay have dispatched.

Antagonize me as much as you like, I enjoy a bit of fun on a Friday night at 11.30pm when I am still working 'cos I have too many orders. Having a break for a chat is keeping me sane.

Re: Some advice please.
So, keeping you sane has now turned into my "raison d'etre"...until I get my leads.
All joking aside, I do appreciate your workload. Stupid though it may sound, the fact that I couldn't get my leads by return post was one, minor, part of the reason I went for NVA gear.

Re: Some advice please.
Save your money, is my advice. There's little to be done with the crap sound you get from most DAB stations.
And the X10 thingy is a mild, single setting, tone control - but if you do fancy trying something then you'd be better off doing it properly with a graphic equalizer.
e.g. something like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sony-SEQ-411- ... 2321693acb
I've an Akai graphic equalizer equalizer and I use it for pre-recorded cassette tapes and old recordings on vinyl. It works a treat!
But most people seem to regard this as somehow impure and evil, so don't spill the beans on me, will you.
Btw - I think Michaelson is a very fine clarinettist. His earlier recordings are the better ones - I just love his 1st Mozart clarinet concerto - far more musically rewarding than many "big names" I have heard.
