Interesting DQ.

Perservance, Patience and a good portion Cussedness must be the order of the day.....

Yes, keep doing the exercises and maybe also in your imagination - I am told the brain has remarkable abilities to regenerate neurons and pathways....and maybe a little coach would help, so you are not going it alone....

But HiFi as a tormentor - nothing has changed, well? Same old story - just with a new twist.

My thoughts are with you!

There is some evidence linking music with post stroke recovery. A quick google 'music stroke recovery' reveals quite a few academic papers.

With that in mind it might be worth considering some kind of computer-based audio setup as a short / medium term alternative to the vinyl. In terms of a usable setup, my thinking is something like a Raspberry Pi (RPi) with additional DAC board plus an additional hard disk connected via USB. With suitable software such as Volumio, RuneAudio etc. you can then access (a) your ripped files & downloads (not that you necessarily have any) and (b) online radio stations from your PC. The PC/Laptop connection to the RPi is wireless and the RPi to amp connection is standard phono interconnect. Total setup cost should come in at well under the £200 mark.

It won't have the vinyl 'refinement,' but there's so much on YouTube and of very good quality (heard on the Doc's all-NVA systems too, so not just my ancient gear). That fiver-DAC with half decent power supply is quite sufficient, a laptop and the twenty quid USB/SPDIF converter is more than enough for good online music. Maybe in this case and to keep connections easier, a plug-in USB DAC would do... It's MUSIC and even if the mind-set is against 'digital' as such. At least the stereo would be used and hopefully enjoyed again?

(the suggestion for a vintage fully automatic Dual turntable can come later - knock ye not, they can be bloody good!)
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way...The time has gone, The song is over, Thought I'd something more to say...

Music really helped me after my haemorrhage and stroke especially Ryan Adams' Gold and album I relearned how to load my Sony Discman.
It was about a year before I could operate my turntables, so don't despair DQ you'll get there in time you just need a strong will and support to do it and I think you've got that.

If anyone can personally help DQ get his music up and running I'd happily make a contribution towards the cost.

Not necessary but thanks.

Today , I went in to living room shortly after waking so I didnt need to look at it longingly

Had my tens machine strapped to my arm. Nice to see my arm and hand do some movement even if my brain didnt move it . The therapist says she can feel my muscles move correctly they are just very week. Dont know if that a good thing or bad. Time will tell.

Also used my stick . I move my left arm ,but my right arm is holding the stick also ,so there must be some hold and movement from the arm/hand

It is bloody slow and deppresing, but helpfully to tell you all about it
