Jolly good. Diy with turntables scares me a bit. All that precision engineering. In agriculture first thing we do is hit it with a big hammer.

Which reminds me of the old joke I was told by an engineer. A factory has a major piece of equipment fail, so they call in an engineer. The engineer strokes his chin for a minute, asks for a hammer, and bashes the side of the machine, which immediately starts working again. A week later, the engineer sends in his bill, for £1,000. The firm's accountant queries the bill, and asks for a more detailed breakdown of the work done. The engineer sends back a piece of paper, on which is written:

For hitting machine with hammer: £1

For knowing where to hit machine: £999.

Before it took pride of place, I pissed about with the speed for a week. No matter when I measured it, seconds, minutes, hours and days, it was always the same.

I am used to speed fluctuation, I've owned an origin live controller. So I was anticipating some problems. But its been rock steady.
Know what that is like- my funk firm Vector was a buggar to stabilise- took a lot of effort and constant checking.
I have a Lenco too now and prefer it sonically and ease of use

Cool. You have some interesting bits, there. You should start your own system thread. Would love to see some photos...

I settled on a 6mm acrylic mat glued to the metal platter.
For me, the idlers do timing better than any belt drive. The Lencos are still good VFM and I like the punk ethos of DIY customising them.

The new plinth looks good, pleased you're enjoying your new toy. Maybe I'll have to try an idler deck. :geek:

Vinyl-Ant is only about an hour from you, Dave. He restores Lencos and always has a few on hand to listen to...
