not quite  ,they are staying where they are if my ears prefer , rfc would stick 17 components on the driver to flatten it and the sound . More listening were they are for now . Alas no chance of moving them out of the bay window .

My first idea is to turn the speakers upside down and see what happens .

Had I known he had them the wrong way round on the higher part of his split level flat , it would have saved me hours of pissing about with his "belt" suggestions

At least he questions orthodoxies .

ok . fathers day meant a couple of hours with my hifi and i moved the speakers , a bit forward and a bit further apart and the 300hz as gone . Then i replaced the 4.7 uf capacitor for a 8 uf and will be evaluating over the next day or so .

I am all giddy , despite living in my current home for 18 months or so the rather large shed at the back of the garden [12ftx12ftx10ft] had remained floor to ceiling full of junk. It is now empty except for my tools and will be the new home of DQ's DIY , having emptied it and fitted an electricity supply to it at the weekend . It may have taken a rather large soldering iron burn on her new settee to bring about this state of affairs , but o well .

As for the hifi , the 8uf capacitor on the tweeter remains , it is preferred to the 4.7 . I think it reintroduces a bit of dynamic snap [ speed ] I considered was missing compared to the woven 5 and half inch drivers of the wharfedales .
