Not yet bothered with speakers as I fail to see how they could be better given the size of my listening room. Crossover less, damped and infinite baffle, what else is there to know.

So I turned my attention to amps. One thing I've done where the results are staggering is with my phono 1.
.
I took the transformer, the bridge rectifier and the caps out of the case of my phono 1. In a separate acrylic case I put a 160va transformer (it's 30va for a phono 1) 10000 capacitors and the bridge rectifier. Using mains cable I connected the power supply to the phono 1 case containing just the boards.

Fuck me is all I can say. The doc new a thing or two.
How much did the bits for your power supply cost?

Would you see this as a not too difficult DIY job for a novice, to replicate what you've done?

And yes his philosophy was to have a good minimalistic circuit for the signal path and then to improve it as funds allowed with better / beefier power supplies.

The photo is my attempt at amps.

The phono power supply is much simpler. It cost £25 perspex parts, £35 for the transformer and you can get caps from £2 to £20. I remain sceptical as the benefit in audiophile caps in power supplies but the jury's out. You can reuse the bridge rectifier but new ones are cheap as chips.

You need sundries like on off swith and cable.

My opinion is any one can do it, if I can do it with 1 arm.

FWIW Richard sold some of his integrated amps ( AP20, AP30 etc ) as a DIY kit in the 90's. I understand it was not particularly successful given a lot of customers returned half built units in various states expecting NVA to sort out their mess !

Power supply and both Richard copied amps in situ.

Daniel, You (like me and thousands more) seem not to have paid Photobucket for the privilege (?) of hosting photos.

So, as a result your pictures are deliberately (by them) blurred.
