Sony PS-6750

Unread post by selby »

Anyone own one of these?

Anything need checking or upgrading from stock? Cartridge recommendations?
My Kit – I moved to home theatre setup sorry...Denon SR7011, Anthony Gallo A'Diva SE Fronts, SpeakerCraft Profile AIM LCR3 One Rears, BK Electronics XLS200-DF MK2 Sub, Epson Projection.

But I would love a cheeky little AP10, AP20 sort of amp for a bedroom setup...

Nothing needs upgrading (IME) and cartridge-wise I used an Ortofon 2M Black.

A fabulous turntable, I'd have one over my PL-71. It really is that good.

Why did you swap to a PL-71?

I know absolutely nothing about cartridges, the 2M Black seems to be £400+ which I won't be able to afford. Any other recommendations?

I know that story, he sold his fav system (inc Sony TT) to finance his house move, and has been rebuilding his system back up since.

Cheapest good MC which perform musically way above it station is the Denon DL103.

Well I wanted a PL-71 as I like the look of it but haven't seen a nice one for sale in ages, not to mention one that I could afford (waiting for the Doc to sell me his ;) )

However I've managed to pick up a 6750 but it's still got its original cartridge. The Ortofon 2M Blue seems to get ok feedback. I need to read up on the difference between MM and MC but I'd rather settle on what's best long term as I'll have to invest in a NVA Phono and will need to decide which route to take.

Well you have a future customer in Gromit if you ever find a PL71 and move it on.

I can tell this is going to get expensive, but fun.

I'm looking forward to searching out my favourite albums on vinyl. So far my collection only includes Nick Drake Five Leaves Leaves Left and some John Martyn.

Do you all use record clamps/weights or are they just guff?

Don't go off down the upgrade path bullshit. Sony *KNEW* how to make good turntables, just follow their judgement, change nothing.
