Was going to start a new thread but managed to find this one... I just purchased a PS-6750 last night on eBay for the princely sum of £175, it occasionally has a little trouble maintaining speed with slowing down for a second or two every now & then. I've had a similar problem in the past on a Technics SL-1500, the speed adjustment potentiometers were dirty ! Hopefully its the same problem... If not I'll have to get investigating
It comes with both Dynavector Ultimo & Goldring 820E cartridges... Being an analogue numpty I have no idea if A) either are any good, and B) if they'll work well with the Sony ? I also have a Pickering XV15 I've been using on my Dual 1019 which sounds great.
If anyone has an opinion on these turntables/carts I'd like to hear it.
I have a G820 with original conical and elliptical styli. It's like a slightly tuned up G800, the main difference I can see being a tie wire in the stylus assembly on the 820 models. The 820E is beefy, smooth but a bit dull for me, the original star being the well reviewed 820SE model, which was higher compliance.
The 2M Blue is a fussy and lean-toned beast and my sources tell me that the Bronze is far less bother - apparently... The 6750 arm was a carbon-fibre loaded type I believe, so not as massy as normal for these decks. I can't remember what we used in our dem one, as the rare and extremely splendid PS8750 put it into the shade somewhat, through no fault of its own I should add.
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way...The time has gone, The song is over, Thought I'd something more to say...
Ah Dave ! I must confess, I had you in mind when I posted my query
Its due to land on Friday so I won't count my chickens before they hatch... I assumed the Shure included with the 1019 would be working but when it arrived it was plain to see all was not well with it.
I shall assess & update once its here.
Either way, I'm almost loath to stop using the old Pickering XV15-625... Its so captivating and warm/creamy/euphonic - Its a flat earthers nightmare !
