This is perhaps a little irrational of me starting this thread. But curiosity got the better of me!
I like my Royd A7 Series II Speakers very much.
Soon in maybe a few months, I'd like to buy a speaker, that can handle more larger volumes better than Royds. Presentation wise, the speakers must have a similar musicality/fun factor like Royds. A little more smoothness/refinement would also be good!
I admit in some of my music CD collection being a bit on the bass heavy side.
Cheers.

Something like Royds, but louder please.

You could try the high efficiency route. Maybe something like this?

I was going to say the same thing, go for efficiency. But probably overkill for a bedroom.
I am going to PM you a link to an ebay speaker that looks a bargain and may fulfill your need (PM so it doesn't get someone buying it before you). The claimed tweeter damage is nothing, that tweeter is fine, the mark on the nipple is meaningless. There has been some repair on the surrounds but this always happens.Wrong grill but what the hell use them without grills.
Musical and pretty efficient. If you don't want them put up a link here for others. They are an absolute prime candidate from destuffing and steel lining.

Re: Something like Royds, but louder please.
Just to give some more insight.
There is a ''possibility'' in moving my system into a bigger room this coming summer.
In that room, I can place some speakers close to the walls, as the wall is fairly solid. The sitting/listening distance will be longer too!
@ Richard, I'll give those ''linked'' speakers some thought over night.
Speaking of high efficiency, what about the Snell J speakers?

I've decided to give these a miss- http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vintage-AR18- ... 25a1802a9e
I want to save up for the time being.

Snell J's aren't really high efficiency speakers. I'd rate them as medium efficient speakers. Some people like them a lot. If you see a pair at the right price why not give them a go?
