new turntable on its way!

Ive just pulled the plug on this beauty from Germany, a pioneer plc-1700 so i can finally hear what all you lp12 haters tell me im missing . Here's some info on it http://www.thevintageknob.org/pioneer-PLC-1700.html
I spotted it over on ebay.de and after some advice from the doc i made an offer and it was accepted.
i shall be doing some very long listening session when it arrives and at the end one will have to go.....i wonder which one????

Ive said this on HFS before, but fuk it, I'll say it again......Thats one ugly TT.
But beauty is in the eye of the beholder so you may not need a blindfold whilst using.

That said it is reportedly one heck of a fine sounding TT, which im sure will piss on LP12's.

It uses the same plinth as my PL71 which *for me* is the prettiest plinth I have seen. Thick marine plywood in top section and thick steel plate in bottom section used in conjunction. Feet look a bit naff but they are sprung and I wasted about £150 putting stillpoints on my PL71 and it made no musical or hi-fi difference, so keep them as is. Also keep the mat, I and other PL71 owners have tried loads of different mats and the one supplied with it has always been best.

the arm has got me puzzled,2 people have suggested stax ,its similar but not identical.
