Why has this guy got his cables on little stands? Is that a thing? I just let mine drape where they want - is that wrong?

Simple - he is bonkers. If there is a difference I recon it is too small to worry about.

I do remember once having an issue with a VCR. I just wanted to play one off against the one we had in place so I just sat it on the carpet in front of the TV. It refused to work properly, the controls were erratic and the picture would break up. I lifted it on to a shelf and it all worked fine. Just to check I placed it back on the floor and after a few seconds all the problems started again. Lift it up, they stopped, back on the carpet they were back. I could only think that the carpet had a nylon content which carried a high static charge and that was messing with the electronics. Whether that could affect a cable enough to hear I very much doubt and I've never bothered to try it out.

It's all part of his cunning plan. :animals-chickencatch:

They're there as a trip hazard. So that his wife will fall over them and land in the corner bass traps that have hidden poison tipped pointy sticks inside them ("for their superior bass absorption properties"). :violence-duel:

Once he's bumped her off he'll be able to shack up with someone that won't keep nagging him about how much money he's wasted on hi-fi equipment. :character-daphne:

Maybe he should've taken up railway modeling. At least then those bridges would serve a purpose.
