Re: T Amp
A CORRECTION - I've been referring to all of these amps as T Amps and that's totally wrong as it turns out. A very kind gentleman emailed me after seeing this thread and explained that the TPA chips used in some of these amps (e.g the TPA3118D2DAP chip in my SMSL 36A) are not examples of the the original Tripath chips, but are "genuine Class D." Tripath, as I've already said, is/was a trade name. So...even the title of the thread is probably wrong.
Having said that the three I've got are all advertised on Amazon as "Class T" amps, which is the registered trademark that Tripath used to describe their Class D amps, and both of the Topping amps (TP20 and TP22) claim to use "official" Tripath chips, i.e. the TA2020 and TK205 respectively.
Can of worms or what? I'm now going to stop reading up on these bloody things and just stick to enjoying them.

Re: T Amp
I've just ordered one of these via eBay (the last one in fact...so the listing said) from China. It looks quite interesting.
It's only got optical and co-ax inputs, which is all I need, it hasn't got the added complication of USB, it isn't pretending to be a headphone amp, it's just a DAC.
So, the finished(?) system will be
AMP
Topping TP22
PHONO
Douk Audio Valve MM Phono Pre-Amp (valves are 2 x 6J1)
DAC
Breeze Audio AK4490 SU4
VALVE BUFFER
FX-AUDIO TUBE-01 (valves are 2 x 6J1)
SPEAKER CABLE
Chord Leyline 2
CABLES
Interconnects - Primewire
Optical - Ibra
Co-ax - AKORD
Total cost, exclusive of sources (CD, DAB radio, and Deck) and speakers (Epos ES11) = £245.06 I'm happy with that for a second system that's used mostly for background music these days.
It's not mentioned on eBay by the way, but AliExpress reckon that model of DAC is called "The Wind." Let the piss-taking commence, if you haven't already started.

Thanks for pointing that mistake out antonio. My copy & paste skills are rubbish today it seems.antonio66 wrote:Are you sure the Breeze Audio is a tube dac Mr. Slinger?
It's the phono amp that has the valves of course.

Re: T Amp
My valve buffer kit arrived from China today.
It's good job I like a challenge because it doesn't come with a circuit/layout diagram, or any written explanations whatsoever. Examine the board, find the component, fit the component...examine the board, find the component, fit the component...examine the board, find the component...
Gangway! Old bloke with magnifying glass and soldering iron coming through.
