Tried Roon and a pain in the arse complex offering. Moode is far simpler, excellent quality and actively developed by it's author and team of contributors.

Re: Roon
Roon is certainly content rich, and integrates very well with Tidal...but it is a good deal more processor intensive than other apps, and it costs $119 p.a. I tried it but I still prefer the simplicity and speed (especially at start up) of Squeezelite used with Orange Squeeze android mobile app. Roon definitely worth looking at, though. There are usually a number of free trial offerss available for Tidal if you look around online and Roon has a standard 14 day free trial after download...
I run the Sonore Micro Rendu (& upgraded LPSU) that George mentioned earlier.

Moode has no tidal integration does it? I've tried it, but a long time ago now.alfer wrote: ↑Sun Jul 09, 2017 11:24 am Tried Roon and a pain in the arse complex offering. Moode is far simpler, excellent quality and actively developed by it's author and team of contributors.

Re: Roon
I use it in combination with a Chord 2Qute Dac which is said to be optimised for USB input. Lots online - they seem to be used in combination quite a lot - and from both designers about what they have done to eradicate the previous issues with USB set-ups.George Hincapie wrote: ↑Sun Jul 09, 2017 1:18 pmHow do you find it? The only reservation I have is having to use USB to connect the Sonore to my DAC.
Very clear, clean, transparent and dynamic sound compared to what I've had before. Preferred the Chord to an Auralic Vega and the Metrum Musette.

Re: Roon
I have tried the 'freebie' included with the Chord dac, a Graham Slee Lautus that I already had, plus a Chord Silver Plus and a Van Den Hul Ultimate on loan from local dealer.
Subtle differences - the freebie, the Chord Co and the Graham Slee are pretty close - the GS being bigger in the bass but a bit wallowy at times, and the Chord Co being more neutral but a bit splashy up top. The VDH is more refined and transparent and more satisfying over longer listening sessions.
I actually notice much bigger differences between the cables when they are plugged into my (very) old Beresford dac in my office set up. And in this scenario, The Grahm Slee is slightly preferred.
