I could just buy some inch thick slabs of slate (and may still), but I'd like something nicer looking. Do any of you know who makes some nice ones in oak or similar? With nice spikes of course.
I'm not expecting anything other than nice looks before any soap boxes get dragged out
Isolation Platforms
Re: Isolation Platforms
I purchased a Bamboo chopping board from Argos, just looked but can not see them now. These have been recommended on AoS http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/products/cook ... C%7C%7C%7C, and here's some spikes/review http://theartofsound.net/forum/showthre ... pikes-PT-2. You could also go with oak cones underneath.
Re: Isolation Platforms
Just by way of update, I bought this in the end: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/222599423439
I may put an inch of slate under it as well, haven't decided yet.

Re: Isolation Platforms
To isolate from external vibration (e.g footfall on sprung floor) or to dissipate energy from equipment?
Re: Isolation Platforms
They look nice George, my only thought was you could replace the spikes with sorbothane or Newplast recommended by DQ, here's his post: Sorbothane is IMO a waste of money. It as a damping factor 0.197 and a transmutability coefficient of 3.93. Newplast which is adult modelling plasticine that does not dry out or harden as a damping factor .635 and 1.42, those are some of the best figures available , better than panerholz .It costs peanuts , I have just bougth 20 quids worth and it comes in any colour you want
