In doing some background reading on Richard Allan speakers I came across this: "Directory: "New_Angle_PHF_Nov_1975" contents..." from http://ukhhsoc.torrens.org/makers/Richa ... index.html
I particularly liked the reference on page 1 to the 'squirting' effect of forward facing enclosures. The article is contemporaneous with Roy Allison's papers and the DIY design has some similarities with the Allison 1 speakers.

Re: Nothing New Under The Sun
A nice article. Thanks for linking to it.
In the mid seventies, there were all sorts of creative ideas flying about regarding speakers.
It was a fascinating period as a teenager, it got me into hi-fi in the first place.
By the end of the decade that creativity had been stomped into oblivion in the UK.
Folk like us are rediscovering that creative movement and we need to keep banging the drum.
The naysayers can go and fook themselves as far as I'm concerned.
