How many Ortofons have you heard DQ? They used to make several ranges and some had totally opposing sonic personalities in my experience...

I forgot whom it was with the Rock 2. No 'Decca Dance' I agree...
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way...The time has gone, The song is over, Thought I'd something more to say...

to be honest i was expecting big things from the cadenza black but it was so laid back i thought something was wrong with it,it certainly didnt have the decca drive and punch,if id had bought one new at £1800 id be very pissed off!

Blimey, I had a Cadenza Black at one point "laid back" is certainly not the description that comes to mind !

lol i was a few weeks back to be honest,it all started when i bought the cadenza black on a whim,it was a 20hr demo cartridge,i bought it and couldn't wait to get it on,everything you read about it reports great things.
anyway it arrived and on it went,it had great detail and was very easy to set up compared to the decca.
i decided to sell the decca and after a few days of listening to the black i began to think something wasn't right,i just wasn't being gobsmacked by it.
i started to think the mc stage in my pre amp wasn't up to the job and thats why i wasn't getting the best out of the cartridge,a few guys on AOS very kindly lent me some sut's which didnt better the naks mc or mm stages so at that point i cut my losses and returned it for a refund.

the deccas back on now and im over all the paranoia :) interestingly the tt guy at the hfi shop i bought the black from is also a decca fan and he totally agreed with me regarding the laid back nature of the cadenza black or as its more normally described,' it doesn't get in the way of the music' lol.

Got a Shure M55E as my MM at the mo, it is very good, and so is my Empire 1000zex. I still have big soft spot for my M3D, all wrong but great fun. When ever I am in a Tamla or 60's pop mood, then on it goes. Back TT listening at the moment as I have been building 3 Phono2 last few days. My cheapo new deck is really doing a good job.
