I would think it is an excellent deck, being a PT fan myself. I have read the Alphason is a good match but cartridge is the unknown factor.

Thanks for the reply Antonio.

This PT1 is in excellent condition, has a DC motor and the motor is at the 12 O'clock position. It also has a custom made external power supply :grin:

I know very little about Pink Triangle decks apart from how much DQ regards his Anniversary. The cartridge as you say is an old MC that was replaced in Linn's line up in the 90's I think. Is there no getting away from bloody Linn :angry-steamingears:

Seems a lot of money, I sold my PL71 with Denon 103 for about £700 and I know, well obviously IMO, it is better than any PT. I am listening to my new deck I have got for my test rig now the PL71 has gone. It is the original cheapest Pioneer belt drive from 1972 the PL12AC, with a Shure M55E. It is singing, not ultimately as clear as the PL71 and suffering from normal belt drive note phasing that it seems most people don't hear. BUT considering the price M55E are fetching the deck cost me about £50 and it is in fantastic condition almost as new. I have a simple partial cure for note phasing that I will apply, it is my secret at the moment though. So bargains can still be found.

OK I will give away my secret, what the hell. Second belt placed on the top of first belt, maybe even a third one.

That's a top tip, thanks for sharing your secret :guiness;

Does it apply to all belt drive decks?

Trying that with the Lp12 will cost £100 for two extra belts :shock:

The best thing to do with a LP12 is stick it on top of a bonfire.

No! Send the metal for recycling into something useful.
