speaker for i-phone!

Unread post by guydarryl »

Dear all,

I am not sure if this is the right place to ask but.....

My youngest (18th birthday coming up) drives me up the wall listening to music on her I-phone's building in speaker - tinny doesn't cover how much it annoys me. For her birthday, amongst other things, she has said that she would like a speaker to plug the 'phone in to.
I have offered a little amp and speaker in the past, but she wants a "one box" solution. Possible product line Doc ?

Does anyone have experience of these devices and feel able to make recommendations - up to a max of £100?
I think that it would need to be small, robust, reliable, (suitable for bedsit/room as she has been getting offers for university recently).

Thanks in advance. Guy.

I've got one of these. It sounds very reasonable connected to a hifiman sd card player so I would assume it would work well with an i-phone. Whether they still make them or an equivalent I don't know. Of course you could always go bluetooth!

I have one of these - but they are long discontinued. An Altec Lansing InMotion IM600. Portable Iphone/Ipod dock with radio and rechargeable battery. Still works fine although I only use it as a radio these days (the Ipod is long gone).

The sound is clear and not irritating or fatiguing. I expect that there are more up-to-date versions of this that run on wireless Bluetooth connections. Maybe something like this from Sony:

Hmm. Looks strangely familiar ....

Well I had a chance to listen to Aiwa Exos-9 Portable Bluetooth Speaker - a bit expensive - but as a boombox you cannot find better ;]
but closer to budget https://minirigs.co.uk/portable-speaker 2 years ago on camping trip guy next to us had it - I could not believe the quality that came out of such a small thingy - he used it on wire and it lasted for 5 days!!!

Cheers all,

I have "hit the button" on JBL Flip 3 from Currys - they have them in their sale (and given my daughters record with 'phones and laptops I have purchased a three year accidental damage warranty for £8).

I will hold you responsible if my ears bleed Marco!

Have the offer, but will be up to my little dear on her birthday (17th January ) - bit has arrived but not opened yet. My next problem will be wrapping, I always make a mess of wrapping presents!
